People need to feel confident that their jobs are safe. This will encourage them to make long needed purchases which will drive demand for goods and services which will drive demand for the built environment to house those goods and services. I do not believe that any of the options listed in the survey would improve that situation. I do not believe the problem can be solved with a single "magic bullet".

I agree, there is no silver bullet. A stable political and regulatory environment would be nice. But it's really the economy. Much of the forecast will remain bleak until the excesses of the past have been paid for. Many industries and markets were under regulated by the government, the industries and consumers. We went from the hard work and craftsmanship of the past into an era of easy money and low standards. We will have to work hard and rebuild. Hopefully Americans will join together and work hard to rebuild this country or I fear we will be like Mexico before too long -- lots of rich people, tons of poor and not many people in the middle.
