If an interior paint does not have acceptable opacity other properties are not important.

Coverage, hide, washability, a nice feel when dried...not the dry to touch feel some lesser quality flat coatings have.

With the constantly rising cost of raw materials and it's resulting pass through to the cost of coatings, I feel that it is the responsibility of coatings manufacturers to develop the highest quality products possible at any price level so the end user gets the maximum benefit for their hard earned dollars.

The answer depends on who the buyer is. Contractor market is looking for coverage (hiding) and touch up. DIY market, based on my observations, looks to low odor and washable finishes which includes burnish resistance and ease of cleaning. Some also look to ease of application.
