Titan Wins Benedict Bridge Painting Project

Benedict Bridge

Titan Industrial Services, Inc. of Baltimore, MD, was awarded a contract of $2,446,000 by the Maryland State Highway Administration to recoat existing structural steel surfaces on the Benedict Bridge, a 3,343-foot-long by 24-foot-wide bridge over the Patuxent River that features a swing span. The steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with an organic zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate, and a urethane finish (MDSHA System C). The contract, which required SSPC-QP 1 and QP 2 certification, includes erecting containment to control the emission of the existing lead-bearing coatings.
