Milliken & Company has acquired the assets of Aston, PA-based Rebus, Inc., which makes pigment and additive dispersions for high-performance industrial coatings and thermoset plastics. Milliken (Spartansburg, SC) is a privately held, technology-based company that serves the international chemical, floor covering, and textile markets.
The acquisition will enable Milliken to broaden its portfolio and offer customers a convenient source for differentiated colorants, according to Russ Rudolph, global business manager of the Performance Colorants and Additives business at Milliken Chemical, a division of Milliken. In particular, the move will help Milliken meet the demands of thermoset and coatings manufacturers in fast-growing markets such as the Asia-Pacific region.
Milliken will continue to operate Rebus’s manufacturing facility in Aston, PA.
Jim Steever, founder of Rebus, has agreed to assist Milliken in a business development consulting role.
Milliken Chemical specializes in developing and producing additives and colorants for the global plastics and household care industries.
