The 14,265-foot-long steel bridge spans Croatan Sound to connect the mainland to the Outer Banks. The project involves recoating approximately 393,685 square feet of structural steel with an organic zinc-rich primer and an acrylic finish. The contract, which required SSPC-QP 2 certification, includes abatement of the existing lead-bearing coatings within a Class 2A containment structure (SSPC-Guide 6).
