A U.S. Coast Guard navigation vessel will be cleaned and recoated as part of a recently awarded $63,000 contract.

The Department of Homeland Security awarded the contract to USA Construction Company of Omaha, NE, to clean and recoat a Buoy Utility Stern Loading Boat for the United States Coastguard Aid to Navigation Team (ANT) Buffalo.

Work Details

The contract includes recoating existing vessel surfaces on the 49-foot-long boat, including decking, freeboard, underwater body and pilothouse surfaces. The work will be performed in Detroit, MI.

Coast Guard ANT boat

The 49-foot-long Buoy Utility Stern Loading Boat will be abrasive blast-cleaned and recoated as part of a $63K contract awarded by the Department of Homeland Security.

The buoy deck will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near-White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with an inorganic zinc primer.

The contractor must be SSPC-QP 1-certified and is responsible for furnishing a NACE-certified coating inspector.

The contractor must provide a temporary wooden shelter to enclose the vessel and must provide suitable containment to seal the hull from the outside environment and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations. The containment must capture all debris, preventing any air, ground or water contamination during work.

The primary role of ANT boats is to serve within the inland waters of the United States.
