Sherwin-Williams has introduced a high-build, one-coat polyaspartic urethane designed to accelerate return to service on bridges and other infrastructure projects.
Envirolastic 980 PA is a 65 percent solids, spray-applied, aliphatic polyaspartic polyurea that can be applied as an aliphatic abrasion-resistant topcoat for polyurea and epoxy or alone over properly prepared concrete, steel, or wood.
The high-build formulation eliminates the need for a two-coat application over a zinc-rich primer, the company says.
Envirolastic 980 PA, a new one-coat polyaspartic urethane from Sherwin-Williams, dries to touch in a half hour and allows a return to service in two hours.

Features and Applications
Envirolastic 980 PA offers abrasion and corrosion resistance and high-gloss retention. Up to nine mils dry film thickness is possible in one pass, the company says.
The product can cure in low or humid temperatures and dries to touch in 30 minutes. When applied at 77°F, the substrate can be returned to service in two hours.
Applications include bridge coatings, industrial equipment, rail cars, and processing area floors and walls. The coating is also suitable for use on sports facilities and other structures, according to Sherwin-Williams.
