Bredero Shaw Snags $30M Pipe Deal

ShawCor Ltd. has announced a $30 million contract between its pipe coating division, Bredero Shaw, and Statoil Norway to provide coatings for the Edvard Grieg Oil and Utsira High Gas pipeline projects.

The contract will be executed at the Bredero Shaw pipe coating facility in Leith, Scotland, ShawCor announced  Friday (June 28).

The contract involves coating approximately 98 kilometers (60.89 miles) of 16-inch pipe and 46 kilometers (28.58 miles) of 29-inch pipe with a three-layer polypropylene anticorrosion coating, internal flow efficiency coating, and concrete weight coating.

Bredero Shaw, a subsidiary of ShawCor, signed a $30 million contract with Statoil in Norway to coat about 90 miles of pipeline in Norway.

Coating will start during the fourth quarter of 2013.

North Sea Pipelines

The pipelines will transport oil and gas from the Edvard Grieg and Ivar Assen fields. Gas will be transported through the Utsira High Gas Pipeline to the Sage system, and oil will be transported to Sture, Norway, through the Edvard Grieg Oil Pipeline to the existing Grane Oil Pipeline.

The Edvard Grieg field is located in the Utsira High area of the Norwegian North Sea.
