Free technical guidance on choosing and buying coatings for railcars and transmission pipeline is the focus of two new eBooks published by JPCL: Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings.

Railcar Coating Systems: Selecting and Sourcing and Transmission Pipeline Coating Systems: Selecting and Sourcing combine sourcing information for coating systems with technical expertise on selecting systems.

The new titles are part of a free series that features industry-specific coating selection and specifying advice. The series was developed in conjunction with the latest JPCL Coatings & Linings Buying Guide.

Railcar Coating Systems Transmission Pipeline Coatings

The eBooks are now available as a free download exclusively through PaintSquare, the online home of JPCL.

Railcar Coating Systems

Railcar Coating Systems: Selecting and Sourcing includes a feature on linings for chemical service in railcars.

"Getting on Track with Railcar Linings for Chemical Service" by Lori Huffman of JPCL discusses service environment, inspections, commonly used coatings, and other important issues in maintaining railcar linings.

The railcar coating eBook includes "Getting on Track with Railcar Linings for Chemical Service," in addition to JPCL Buying Guide resources.

Coatings for Transmission Pipeline

Transmission Pipeline Coating Systems: Selecting and Sourcing contains two features on transmission pipeline coatings.

"Applying FBE to Pipeline Internals," by Alan Kehr, Anti-Corrosion LLC, and Dennis Graham, Yellowgate Consulting LLC, describes the details of applying fusion-bonded epoxy to pipeline internals. The feature was drawn from JPCL's 2012 Top Thinkers articles.

"ISO's Standard for Field Joint Coating: Understanding and Using ISO 21809-3," by Marcel Roche, retired from Total of France, describes how to use the ISO standard and project considerations for specification development.

Both volumes also include JPCL Buying Guide material on selecting and specifying marine coatings for various exposure environments. The buying guides are organized by exposure type, substrate type, coating manufacturers and their preferred systems.

The eBooks are sponsored by Hempel Protective & Marine Coatings.

Coating Selection Series

Railcar Coating Systems: Selecting and Sourcing and Transmission Pipeline Coating Systems: Selecting and Sourcing are the 12th and 13th volumes in the exclusive series by JPCL, the leading journal of the protective and marine coatings industry.

Each volume features industry-specific coatings selection and specifying advice. Click on any title to learn more and/or download free:
