NEI Corp. has launched a hydrophobic coating designed specifically for metal surfaces in several industrial applications.
Nanomyte SuperCN combines hydrophobicity and oleophobicity properties, which provide good adhesion to stainless steel, and abrasion and erosion resistance, the company siad..
Originally developed to promote dropwise condensation on stainless steel condenser tubes to enhance heat transfer efficiency, the coating can also be used to impart anti-fouling and easy-to-clean properties, the company says.
Nanomyte SuperCN was designed specifically for metal and promotes dropwise condensation on stainless steel tubes, NEI Corporation announced.
According to NEI, the coating maintained high water contact angles after 5,000 cycles of Taber abrasion testing.
SuperCN is applicable to industrial condensers, particularly surface condensers in power plants. It can also be used to impart anti-fouling and easy-to-clean properties to kitchen appliances, shower heads, hand rails and other metals surfaces used in consumer products.
NEI offers coating services to tube suppliers and coated tubes for end users.
NEI Corporation specializes in synthesizing nanoscale materials and prototyping products that incorporate advanced materials. The company manufactures and sells advanced materials products, provides materials development services and performs contract-based R&D.
Founded in 1997, the company is headquartered in Somerset, NJ.
