Firestone Unveils Roof Protection Line

Elastomeric technology, formulated with 100 percent acrylic polymer, is the cornerstone of a new suite of roof coatings from Firestone Building Products Company.

The company's Fluid Applied Metal Roofing Systems are designed to extend the life of commercial and industrial metal roofs through superior adhesion, water protection and durability.

The new systems are designed help reduce the temperature of a roof's surface by up to 100°F, the company says.

The product portfolio includes:

  • Metal top coats;
  • Metal primers;
  • Metal patching;
  • Skylight restoration; and
  • Seam tape and fabrics.

These new systems can help reduce the temperature of a roof’s surface by up to 100°F and can minimize the peak cooling demands of a building by up to 15 percent, Firestone Building Products says.

The highest level of energy savings is achieved when using lighter colors such as white or tan, the company says, though the systems are available in gray and black as well.

Firestone says its coatings, which carry a 10-year warranty, offer a cost-effective alternative to metal roof replacement.

Firestone Fluid Applied Metal Roofing Systems are further designed to protect the building envelope from harsh weather, severe temperatures, airborne pollutants and emissions.

The product line is also ENERGY STAR approved, Firestone adds.

The company says additional benefits of Firestone Fluid Applied Metal Roofing Systems include:

  • Easy installation;
  • Recycled content of 95 percent;
  • Cost-effective alternative to replacing a metal roof;
  • High solid count allows for a uniform distribution;
  • 10-year warranty available; and
  • Tax deductible in the first year.

The metal coating systems are applied in three steps: prep, seal and coat.
