A project to repaint the interior of three buildings at a bustling North Carolina rest area is up for bid.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to paint the interiors of the I-26 Madison County Rest Area’s service building, welcome center and vending building.
Bids are due June 19. A mandatory pre-bid is scheduled for May 29.
Repainting the Rest Area
The contractor will clean and coat interior walls and ceilings in the three buildings, as well as access doors and panels, registers, pipes, supports, hangers, pipe insulation and ductwork.
North Carolina's Department of Transportation is inviting bids to paint interior surfaces at the Madison County Rest Area, six miles east of the Tennessee border.
Gypsum board, wood and ferrous metal surfaces will all be primed and coated with a three-coat latex system. The non-absorbent walls of the restrooms will receive a latex-epoxy system, while previously stained wood will be coated with varnish.
The owner has elected a neutral off-white finish for walls and ceilings in public areas. Prime-coated hardware should be painted to match attached surfaces. The contractor should take care to protect hardware and accessories not being painted during the project. Surfaces damaged during the work should be touched-up prior to completion.
The buildings will remain open to the public throughout the project; necessary precautions should be taken to ensure a safe environment for rest area patrons. The contractor should also submit a detailed traffic control plan.
All work should be completed by Aug.16, according to NCDOT.
