Steel Tank Makers Elect Leaders

Members of the Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association have elected their officers and Board of Directors for 2013-14.

Sonny Underwood of Mid-South Steel Products, Inc. was chosen as the 2013 president of STI/SPFA at the group's recent annual meeting in Bonita Springs, FL.  Also elected were:

  • Kevin Gallagher, Caldwell Tanks, vice president; and
  • Steve Meeker, Hamilton Tanks, treasurer.

Board Positions

Past President Terry Cooper, of Acterra Group, was elected chairman of the board. Ralph Carpenter, American SpiralWeld, was re-elected for a second three-year term on the board, representing the Steel Water Pipe Section of STI/SPFA members; and Tim Woofter, Stanwade Metal Products, was also elected for a three-year term.

Continuing their terms on the 2013 Board of Directors are Tony Honey, Modern Welding Co., Technical Committee chair and representing the Shop-Fabricated Tank Section; David Watson, Watco Tanks; Tim Racicot, Nooter/CIC Group, Safety & Health Committee chair; Steve Hammoor, Brighton Tru-Edge, Pressure Vessel Section chair; and Jerry Schollmeyer, Morrison Bros., representing Affiliate Members.

STI/SPFA is a not-for-profit association whose member companies fabricate steel tanks, pipe, and pressure vessels for use in the petroleum, food, water, and chemical processing industries.
