A new offshore fireproofing coating from Carboline is designed to benefit owners, engineers and contractors in coastal and offshore environments.
The protective coatings maker has announced the release of Pyroclad X1, an epoxy intumescent fireproofing product. The two-component, solvent-free coating is designed for both jet fire and hydrocarbon pool fire protection for oil and gas installations.

Certified for Fireproofing
The coating system can withstand harsh coastal and offshore environmental conditions and has passed the NORSOK M-501 environmental test program without a topcoat, the company said.
"Pyroclad X1 was developed to save lives and provide a superior level of fire protection for oil and gas assets around the world," said David Wolf, VP of International Business Development.
The product is certified for offshore fireproofing by several certifying bodies, including Lloyd's Register of Shipping and Det Norske Veritas, according to Carboline.
Pyroclad X1 is certified to have as much as a 35 percent thickness advantage over other products, meaning that less material is needed to achieve the same level of protection, the company said.
The coating has a 1:1 mix ratio and requires minimal preheating of the material. It achieves a consistent spray density, has a high-film build, and has a fast recoat time, according to Carboline.
