NACE International has moved its corrosion certification programs to the new NACE International Institute.

The Institute was formed in 2012 to maintain compliance with U.S. tax laws for not-for-profit organizations that have certification programs. The Institute will also lead NACE's certification programs toward ISO standard compliance.

"The Institute's mission is to support growth and quality of certification for the corrosion control field, to improve the business conditions of the industry, and to promote public safety, protect the environment and reduce the economic impact of corrosion," NACE said in a press release.

NACE International

NACE recently announced that its certification programs will move to the NACE International Institute in order to comply with U.S. tax laws.

New Website

In mid-2013, NACE certification programs will move to the new NACE Institute website, www.naceinstitute.org, and will maintain the same functionality as the current website, www.nace.org. The new site will also include certification application and renewal functions and a tool to search for certification holders worldwide.

The Institute will focus on workforce certification, pursuing global consistency of certification requirements, raising industry and public awareness of certification programs, and supporting the employment of certified corrosion professionals.

"The purpose of the Institute is to operate broadly for the benefit, protection, and preservation of the corrosion engineering and science industry," said Chris Fowler, president of the Institute.

Dr. Chris Fowler Helena Seelinger

Dr. Chris Fowler of Exova Group is president of the new NACE International Institute. Helena Seelinger, CAE, of NACE is the executive director.

"This is a unique opportunity to build the profile of the industry and its workforce and also build the job market for corrosion control professionals."

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for the NACE International Institute are Dr. Chris Fowler, Exova Group, as president; Helena Seelinger as executive director; Bob Chalker as executive director; Greta Whitsett as secretary; Elaine Bowman, Champion Technologies; Jeffrey Didas, Matcor Inc.; Dr. Oliver Moghissi, DNV Columbus Inc.; and Frank Rampton, Trenton Corporation.

Established in 1943, NACE International serves nearly 30,000 members and offers technical training and certification programs, conferences, industry standards, reports, publications, technical journals, government relations activities and more.
