Cortec Corp. has added CorrVerter Black and CorrVerter Green to its original CorrVerter primer, expanding options for corrosion protection in areas where cleaning and abrasive blasting are difficult.
Product 'Halts' Rust
The products are environmentally friendly, waterborne primers that contain a novel chemical chelating agent that modifies surface rust into a hydrophobic passive layer, according to the company.

CorrVerter, now available in black and green, can be applied on ferrous metal to "halt" rust in hard-to-prep areas, the company said.

The formulation combines high-solids waterborne latex with extremely low water vapor permeability. The product line provides corrosion protection for poorly prepared substrates, "quickly converting and halting rust," according to the company.
Cortec says the coating may be applied on ferrous metal substrates and is ideal for situations where proper cleaning and blasting are difficult.
The company recommends applying the product via brush, roll, or spray with no surface show-through at 3 to 5 mils wet film thickness. Brush application is preferred to penetrate rust.
The coating can be applied to dry or damp surfaces and should be allowed to dry for 12 to 24 hours before applying a topcoat, the company said.
