VersaFlex Launches Polyurea University

Those seeking to become polyurea experts have a new tool at their disposal, as VersaFlex Inc. has announced the launch of four polyurea training degrees and renamed its training school Polyurea University.

Polyurea expert and JPCL Top Thinker Dudley J. Primeaux II, PCS, CCI, is the school's head instructor. VersaFlex says the mission of Polyurea University is to deliver the highest standard of polyurea technical and application training.

Polyurea University offers four training tracks with classroom and hands-on courses.

VersaFlex has been conducting classroom-style and hands-on polyurea training schools for decades, the company said. The company's Houston Training Center is being renamed Polyurea University—Houston Campus. Another training facility has been added at the company's headquarters in Kansas City, KS.

4 Course Tracks

Four polyurea training degrees, or course tracks, are offered—Basic Polyurea Materials, Qualified Polyurea Apprentice, Qualified Polyurea Applicator, and Qualified Polyurea Inspector. Each track has its own set of courses.

"The curriculum and course offerings have been completely redesigned to meet the changing needs and demands of our customer and training student base," said Doug Commettee, director of marketing for VersaFlex.

Training courses currently include:

• Basics of polyurea materials and technology;
• Hands-on spraying techniques;
• Equipment operation and maintenance;
• Spray gun selection and maintenance;
• Surface preparation;
• Polyurea specifications; and
• Inspections.

To earn the polyurea inspector degree, the student must already have earned a third-party coatings inspector certification, such as from SSPC or NACE.

The Basic Polyurea Materials course is a 1.5-day classroom training program and a prerequisite for the apprentice program if the student is seeking the full degree. The Qualified Polyurea Applicator Degree includes a more extensive, one-week course load.

The newest degree, Qualified Polyurea Inspector, covers all of the specifics and knowledge necessary to be a professional polyurea inspector, VersaFlex says. This degree requires a third-party coatings inspector course certification from an association like SSPC or NACE.

Students and companies will also receive a full package of marketing and advertising services.

"We want our students to be qualified professionals and steward the proper specifications, application, and inspection of polyurea," said Primeaux. "Then we want to help them market their skills and qualifications to potential customers."

The cost of the training was not immediately available.

Why do most companies fail to get immediately to the facts like where classes are held and how much they cost?

I really do not understand what the focus is on. Would another polyurea supply company send their customer to a training course that is run by a competitor? And why advertise if you don't even have your course pricing yet. Great Marketing!

All the classes are held at our Houston Campus about 15 mins from Bush International Airport. We do not mind at all if competitive polyurea coating suppliers attend. Our goal is to improve the application, specification and inspection of polyurea industry wide. There is no "proprietary" information presented or pushed on any student, unless of course they would like to arrange for that separately. Pricing is available online or via phone call.
