Body painting? Automotive painting? Artistic painting? Parts of all three, actually, but there’s more—and it’s all in the name of edgy advertising.

Model and reporter Erin Bates said it took her time to "wrap my brain around this entire concept."

Painted naked bodies contorted into the parts of a living motorcycle is the eye-popping idea behind the new Human Motorcycles ad campaign created by San Diego’s i.d.e.a. advertising agency for the Progressive International Motorcycle team.

Models were designed as parts of a motorcycle, painted head to toe, then formed into a living sculpture to promote a sports bike, a dirt bike and a cruiser at the show, which kicked off earlier this month in Atlanta and Dallas, Ryan Berman, founder and chief creative officer of i.d.e.a., explains in a video.

The job took multiple models, lots of paint, yoga instruction, and hours of patience and practice.

The project took a lot of paint, eight air brush artists, and at least one yoga instructor, but the result should keep spectators in the next 11 cities warm throughout the winter show.
