International Paint LLC has launched Devoe Bar-Rust 234P, billed as “the first solvent-free epoxy, low-temperature potable water tank lining system.”

The 100% solids, high-build lining system is designed to meet the North American water and wastewater industry’s need for low VOC compliance without compromising performance, the company says.

Quick & Simple

The lining system is designed to provide a “super fast” cure, simple 2:1 mixing ratio, and single-coat application capability, according to the manufacturer.

Devoe Bar-Rust 234P is billed as the first solvent-free epoxy, low-temperature potable water tank lining system.

The coating is applied with a plural airless sprayer directly to the interior of the substrate in a single coat of 25-50 mils’ dry film thickness or in two coats at 15-25 mils’ DFT per coat. Bar-Rust 234P can be applied at temperatures as low as 35ºF.

When applied at a higher temperature (104ºF), the epoxy coating can dry hard in as little as 60 minutes, according the manufacturer’s product data sheet.

Certified for Potable Water

Bar-Rust 234P carries an NSF/ANSI 61 certification for potable water use and cures to a hard, semi-gloss finish for a clean installation.

AkzoNobel is the parent company of International Paint LLC, a global manufacturer of high-performance protective coatings, linings, and fire protection products.

International Paint LLC has launched Devoe Bar-Rust 234P, billed as “the first solvent-free epoxy, low-temperature potable water tank lining system.” I guess International Paint forgot about Series FC22 Epoxoline from Tnemec, which also cures at 35 degrees and and has an NSF Rating for tanks of 5 gallons or greater (the Bar-Rust 234P is certified for tanks of 2,000 gallons or greater). The VOC content of Series FC22 is also lower (5 g/L versus 15 g/L).
