Long before the protective coatings industry had any serious notion of containment, or ventilation, or industrial hygiene, it had Phil Calvo.
Fortunately, once the industry had Calvo, containment and ventilation and industrial hygiene all followed.

After cutting his professional teeth in the silica-sand-and-compressed-air days, Calvo joined the vanguard of coatings industry professionals who were developing containment for lead paint removal when the problem was just emerging.
Back in the day, what passed for containment and ventilation could fit in a pickup truck and be paid for by petty cash, Calvo recalls in a new video interview with JPCL editor-in-chief Karen Kapsanis.
Today: Not so much.
“The simplicity of the equipment has changed drastically,” Calvo says. “But it’s all changed for the right reasons.”
And in more than 25 years, “no two days have been alike,” says Calvo.
What’s changed, what hasn’t, and what’s the secret of his success?
