Bredero Shaw, the world’s largest pipe coating company, has received a contract valued at more than $100 million from McDermott Australia Pty. Ltd. to provide pipeline coatings and related products and services for the Ichthys LNG Project.

This is the second contract Bredero Shaw has received for the Ichthys LNG Project; the first was announced Feb. 14.
Scope of Work
The new contract involves coating about 92 miles of 6-inch to 18-inch diameter pipe that will be protected with three-layer polypropylene anticorrosion coating and Bredero Shaw’s Thermotite multi-layer polypropylene insulation. Work will begin during the second quarter of 2013.

The work will be performed at Bredero Shaw's facilities in Kabil, Indonesia, and Kuantan, Malaysia, which process the company’s projects in the Asia Pacific region.
About the Project
The $34 billion Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between INPEX (Operator) and Total. Gas from the Ichthys Field, in the Browse Basin about 125 miles off Western Australia, will be gathered using risers and flowlines and will undergo preliminary processing at the offshore central processing facility to remove water and extract condensate.

The gas will then be exported via a 552-mile subsea pipeline to an onshore LNG facility to be constructed at Blaydin Point in Darwin, Northern Australia. The Ichthys LNG Project is expected to produce 8.4 million metric tons of LNG and 1.6 million metric tons of LPG annually, along with about 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak over an operational life of 40 years.
