Tennant Co. has launched what it calls the first manufacturing, industrial, and warehousing urethane floor coatings that are 50 percent soy plant-based.
Eco-ITS coatings are bio-based urethane floor coverings made using a 95 percent plant-based BiOH polyol supplied under an exclusive agreement with Cargill Industrial Bio-Products, of Hopkins, MN.

Tennant Co. | Tennant’s Eco-ITS is a sustainable protective coating designed to improve productivity and minimize shutdowns, according to Tennant.
Features and Characteristics
The coating is designed to offer the same performance and protection as Tennant’s WearGuard technology, which the company says has been applied to millions of square feet of surfaces worldwide.
Formulated with up to 50 percent plant-based renewable technology, Eco-ITS has 21 g/L VOCs (clear) and 23-46 g/L VOCs (color). The product qualifies for LEED credits in Indoor Environmental Quality and Materials and Resources.
It is available in clear or a variety of colors and in either gloss or satin finish.
“We’re committed to formulating products that not only help our customers create cleaner facilities but that also help meet their sustainability goals,” says Mickey Gubman, director of Coating Technologies for Tennant Company.
“Tennant Eco-ITS complements our existing line of sustainable floor coatings and for the first time offers the vast majority of manufacturing, industrial, and warehousing facilities a high-quality, affordable, sustainable plant-based floor coating.” More information: www.tennantco.com.
