BASF has introduced Elastocoat AC, a new protective pipe coating product line for the water transmission industry.
The two-component, 1:1 by volume polyurethane system can be used as an internal lining or a corrosion-resistant external coating for potable and non-potable water transmission pipelines.
Elastocoat AC is suitable for transmission pipe used in infrastructure improvement and new installation projects. The coating meets the AWWA-C222 specification, a standard for polyurethane coatings issued by the American Water Works Association.
Features and Characteristics
Zero-VOC Elastocoat AC is a 100 percent solids elastomeric coating designed for the cathodic protection of steel and ductile iron pipe and associated fittings. It is formulated to provide excellent impact and abrasion resistance.

Elastocoat AC is the latest in a family of products from the BASF Polyurethane Solutions business designed for pipeline protection.
Elastocoat polyurethane, polyureas and hybrid coatings are spray-applied and engineered to improve performance and protection of insulated panels, pipe, tank, other building and industrial/infrastructural surfaces. Elastocoat provides a “new skin” that offers high mechanical resilience and resistance against both chemical and climactic impact, according to BASF.
