After nearly a century in the oil and gas coatings market, Hempel is centralizing that business in Houston, TX—the industry’s capital—in a new “Global Center of Excellence.”
The move brings Hempel’s technical consultants and specialists closer to the market’s key players, most of whom have their global headquarters in Houston.

| Hempel’s new center in Houston consolidates its entire global oil and gas coatings operation, including R&D, manufacturing, sales and corporate functions. |
The new center is home to manufacturing, R&D, the engineering and project team, technical service department, sales and marketing, and the North American oil and gas team. Corporate oil and gas functions, including the Group Manager and Business Development Manager, are also based there.
Hempel makes protective coatings for a variety of oil and gas markets, including offshore, refineries, LNG, petrochemicals, storage tank terminals, transmission pipelines, deepwater exploration, unconventional gas, and oil sands.
‘Right to the Doorstep’
“One of the pillars of Hempel’s global oil and gas strategy is to be close to the customers,” said Kunal Nadkarni, Group Oil and Gas Manager.
“With this Center of Excellence, we are bringing our technical expertise and market knowledge right to the doorstep of many of the world’s biggest players. And because this is our corporate oil and gas headquarters, we have all the capabilities and agility we need to serve our customers to the best possible level.” Dimitris Likouressis, Group Protective Marketing Manager, said the move followed the recent expansion of the company’s oil and gas team.
“We will be able to deliver better solutions to our customers by meeting local requirements, as well as any global requirements from multinational companies,” said Likouressis. “It marks an important step forward in our ambitious plans to further develop our oil and gas business.”
