RPB Safety, a global provider of respiratory protection equipment, has introduced the Nova 3 series respirator, billed as the “ultimate heavy industry respirator” for abrasive blasting.
 |
| The Nova 3 Respirator has a patented inner lens system designed to reduce downtime. Users (a) remove the old lens, (b) replace it with a new lens, then (c) clip the frame back into place in seconds. |
The Nova 3 is designed to provide “advanced comfort and functionality, surpassing even the most rigorous industry standards and the demands of the most quality-conscious companies,” says RPB.
The helmet complies with a wide array of safety standards worldwide, including NIOSH, ANSI Z87.1 - 2010+, ANSI Z89.1 - 2012 Type 1 Class C. Strength testing included parking a sport utility vehicle on top of the equipment, RPB said.
Features and Design
The RPB Nova 3 helmet is engineered for optimum comfort and ease of movement, according to the manufacturer. The design distributes the helmet’s weight evenly across the head and shoulders, while a ratchet-adjusted neck pad supports the head securely.

The helmet shell is molded from engineering-grade nylon and built for harsh conditions. A larger viewing window increases downward vision and maximizes peripheral vision, for increased safety. The cape comes in six options and is secured with eight snap fasteners, making it secure, yet easy to replace. The helmet has a removable visor and bellow seal system that forms a complete barrier to dust and particulates. A streamlined air system and field-replaceable air inlet fitting are designed for accurate, easy assembly.
Padding, Lenses
Adjustable, internal “Clever Fit Padding” (patent pending) allows the helmet to be individually customized, minimizing discomfort and irritation, according to RPB. The padding is also positioned to absorb sound within the helmet, protecting workers’ hearing. The padding is easily removed and fully machine washable, keeping the helmet hygienic.
The helmet features the 03-725 Tear off Lens system, RPB’s proprietary “FIT AND SAVE” system of pre-folded tabs. Workers can quickly tear off just one lens layer at a time, increasing blaster productivity, the company says.
Based in Michigan and New Zealand, RPB supplies respiratory protective equipment for abrasive blasting, engineering, foundries, painting and other applications.
