Citadel Polyurea Coatings has introduced a water-based version of its Ultra-Hydro Stop Primer that is designed to cut cure times in half and reduce labor costs.
Ultra-Hydro Stop H2O Primer is a two-component, 50% solids, water-based epoxy primer. The product cures in only six hours—half the time of its predecessor—and needs no scuff sanding before recoating, the manufacturer says.

Ultra-Hydro Stop H2O can be safely applied to diamond ground concrete, eliminating the need for shot-blasting to profile, and can be applied 48 hours after concrete placement. Application is with roller or squeegee.
Features and Characteristics
A moisture-blocking and pH-resistant primer, UHS H2O can hold back up to six pounds of vapor drive in a single coat, or 12 pounds with two coats, according to Citadel. The product is designed for excellent adhesion to moist concrete, making it suitable for basements, garages and other low- to moderate-moisture settings.
Citadel says the primer offers a “balance of protection, speed and efficiency.”
Minneapolis-based Citadel has been developing and applying polyurea coatings for over 25 years on a large variety of substrates. The company’s original focus was foundation and horizontal pre-cast waterproofing, concrete restoration and polishing, and steel and bridge deck coatings.
