Axxiom Manufacturing Inc. and Australia-based Total Abrasion have teamed up to launch Total Schmidt, a new Malaysia-based venture that will serve the Asia Pacific surface preparation industry.
Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Total Schmidt will offer sales, service and rentals of Schmidt abrasive blasting equipment and components, as well as related surface preparation equipment, parts and abrasives.

Based in Houston, TX, Axxiom manufactures Schmidt blasting equipment, components, engineered systems, moisture separators, air dryers, aftercoolers, and storage and transfer systems for the abrasive blasting industry.
Mission and Capabilities
The Asia Pacific region is the world’s fastest-growing market for infrastructure-related products, equipment and services.
Total Schmidt’s mission is to “provide the lowest real cost, environmentally and safest surface preparation solutions to blasting and painting businesses by manufacturing and reselling high-productivity equipment and abrasives.”
The company supplies valves and control systems as well as systems for blasting, material recovery, conveying and storage.
With a full engineering and design staff on site, Total Schmidt will serve the manufacturing, construction, transportation, agriculture, oil and petrochemical and other industries.
Management
Total Abrasion owners Aaron Williams and Steve Clare will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the new venture.
Williams and Clare have a total of more than 20 years of senior executive management and business development experience in the abrasive, surface preparation and ultra-high-pressure waterjet cutting industries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Both previously held senior operational and sales/marketing executive roles with the world’s largest industrial garnet mining facility, based in Western Australia.
“As the global manufacturer of Schmidt brand abrasive blasting products, which have led the industry for more than 35 years, we are pleased to have joined with Aaron and Steve to inaugurate what we confidently believe will quickly become one of the region’s foremost providers of surface preparation products,” said Axxiom president John Pirotte, who will serve as chairman of Total Schmidt.
