Trenton Corp., manufacturer of corrosion prevention systems, has introduced a wax-tape coating designed to protect metal pipe and irregular-shaped fixtures from corrosion in higher-temperature applications.
Trenton HT-3000 Wax-Tape is the newest addition to the company’s long-established Wax-Tape line. Trenton says the new product offers the convenience of its traditional tapes with the ability to withstand much higher temperatures.

Typically applied in combination with Trenton Temcoat 3000 Primer, HT-3000 Wax-Tape can be used in diverse field conditions for bare or coated pipes, valves or fittings.
Application and Features
The wax-tape coating is suitable for oil and gas production piping, gas pipeline compressor station discharge piping, refining and petrochemical process piping, and beneath thermal insulation on piping and locations with high temperatures greater than 110 degrees F (though less than 230 F).
The product is non-toxic, UV resistant and easy to apply, with minimal surface preparation, according to the manufacturer. It can be applied in high-moisture conditions and at in-service temperatures using insulated gloves. There is no cure time, so the location can be backfilled after application. It can be used on above-ground or underground pipe systems.
For pipes that are exposed or that require mechanical protection, Trenton’s MC Outerwrap may be applied on top of the HT-3000 for supplementary strength. The moisture-cured wrap starts curing when exposed to humidity and creates a strong coating.
Established in 1949 and based in Ann Arbor, MI, the Trenton Corp. offers wax-based corrosion protection products that support cathodic protection of pipelines.
