Novetas Solutions LLC has opened two plants in California to produce its crushed-glass abrasive.
The facilities, located in San Leandro (near San Francisco) and Commerce (near Los Angeles), will produce the company’s New Age Blast Media for the West Coast and Hawaii markets. Novetas currently has plants in Philadelphia and outside Richmond, VA.

Philadelphia-based Novetas has also signed an agreement with Houston-based Strategic Materials Inc., the largest glass recycler in North America, to supply material for the abrasive.
Each plant will offer the company’s standard three sizes of abrasive in packaging sizes ranging from 50-pound bags to bulk trucks.
QPL Approval Sought
Novetas also said it had initiated the Qualified Products List (QPL) approval process with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and local certified military plant inspection teams to obtain approval for both new California plants. Once approved, the company said, these plants—like the current ones—will be able to supply all contractors and sites for military and federal/state government jobs that require QPL approval under Mil-A-22262, the company said.
