HMG Paints Ltd., the UK-based independent industrial coatings producer, has introduced single-coat Monothane, made for direct application to substrates without the need for a primer.
The gloss-finish polyurethane topcoat is suitable for steel, aluminum, galvanized steel and castings, as well as difficult-to-paint substrates like PVC, polystyrene, GRP and sheet-molded composites (SMC) plastic, the manufacturer says.
Applications and Features
Monothane’s resin technology is designed for durability and weathering resistance. Adhesion promoters and anti-corrosive pigments enhance bonding and prevent rusting on iron and steel. High-gloss finish is standard, with other sheen levels available to order.
Monothane can be applied by airless, air-assisted, conventional gravity and HVLR spray guns, or by brush. Surface preparation requires only a solvent wipe or shotblasting. Drying times at 70°C to 80°C (158°F to 176°F) are typically 20 to 30 minutes. The product can also air-dry to touch in two hours in ambient temperature and fully harden overnight.
Applications include construction plants, trailer frames and chassis, garage doors and metal frames, either as a direct-to-substrate OEM coating or as a high-performance touch-up paint for distributors and end users.
