LINE-X Protective Coatings Ltd. has introduced a quick-drying spray-applied polyurea for fresh, treated and potable water storage tanks and reservoirs and pipe linings.
Aquaurethane Extreme is a fast-set coating formulated to meet the regulations of fresh, treated and potable water storage reservoirs.

The new coating “will not only repair damage to existing water reservoirs, but provide complete corrosion protection to prevent future water loss,” said LINE-X CEO Kevin Heronimus.
Features and Characteristics
Aquaurethane Extreme contains no CFCs, no VOCs and no solvents. The 100% solids formulation applies quickly and dries to the touch in five to seven seconds, the manufacturer says.
The coating is professionally applied by trained applicators using specialist high-pressure plural-component application equipment. Large surface areas can be coated in a very short time, according to LINE-X.
Multiple Applications
As a tank/underground reservoir lining, Aquaurethane Extreme is designed to create a seamless monolithic membrane upon application, thus preventing water loss from the containment area. Elasticity allows the membrane to expand and contract with the concrete, withstanding significant crack growth, according to LINE-X.
Aquaurethane Extreme can also be applied as a seamless pipe lining, for systems that carry water from reservoirs to the end user. The coating helps prevent seepage and leaks and seals the joints, the manufacturer says.
The product has also been applied as an external tank coating and waterproofing membrane for potable water structures, including underground reservoirs. Applied to external tank roofs, the coating is designed to prevent the penetration of contaminants and pollutants.
New UK Approval
UK authorities recently approved the use of Aquaurethane Extreme under Regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000, which regulates fresh, treated and potable water storage reservoirs in England and Wales.
LINE-X says the product is the first spray-applied polyurea to meet the requirements and standards for use in public water containment.
Based in Huntsville, AL, LINE-X is a global developer and provider of high-performance polymer protective coatings for light and heavy industrial, marine, military, automotive, commercial, and custom applications.
