Primeaux to Direct VersaFlex Training

Dudley J. Primeaux II, the industry’s longtime polyurea guru, has joined polyurea supplier VersaFlex Inc. in the new position of Director of Education and Development.

Primeaux, recently named a JPCL Top Thinker in the coatings industry, will lead VersaFlex’s extensive 14-level training program.

Dudley Primeaux, director of Education and Development, was recently named a “JPCL Top Thinker” for his influence on the industry.

“There are so many important things that Dudley has contributed to the polyurea industry that a simple statement hardly expresses the scope of his work,” said VersaFlex President David R. Cerchie.

“Suffice it to say that VersaFlex is thrilled to have his formal involvement in helping us to further advance this important technology.”

Polyurea Pioneer

Primeaux has been involved in polyurea since the field’s early development in the 1980s. He has authored more than 40 technical papers relating to the industry and holds more than 30 patents. He has experience in the preparation of new raw materials, formulation development, application equipment usage, field application work and failure analysis of coating / lining projects.

Primeaux heads his own consultancy, Primeaux Associates LLC, of Elgin, TX.

He is also an SSPC-certified Protective Coatings Specialist (PCS) and certified Concrete Coating Inspector (CCI) and an active member of SSPC, NACE and other industry organizations.

Widening Role

The new position expands and formalizes Primeaux’s ties to VersaFlex, based in Kansas City, KS. The company offers training year-round in Houston, Europe and Asia. Primeaux has been conducting training classes with VersaFlex for a number of years and developed the company’s training curriculum for levels 1-7.

VersaFlex provides contractor training for field application of its polyurea sealants and spray materials.

Primeaux will also continue in his role as consultant to VersaFlex on product development.

Top Thinker

Recently, JPCL: Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings named Primeaux one of 24 thought leaders worldwide who have advanced the technology of protective and marine coatings in the past decade. The 24 have been named JPCL’s Top Thinkers: The Clive Hare Honors.

The Top Thinker award winners will be profiled in a special issue of JPCL in the summer of 2012, and their work will appear throughout the year in JPCL articles.
