Assuring accurate measurement of coating thickness—a critical quality control issue in protective coatings—will be the topic of a free upcoming webinar presented by JPCL and SSPC.

“Practical Coating Thickness Measurement Overview” will be presented from 11 a.m. to noon EDT Dec. 6.

Webinar: Coating Thickness Measurement

The webinar will discuss factors that influence coating thickness measurement, along with a streamlined means of normalizing and verifying gauge accuracy. The latest means of evaluating the results and transfer of data into various inspection reports will also be demonstrated.

The presenter will be Paul Lomax, Director of Marketing for Fischer Technology, Inc. Lomax has more than 20 years of experience in the field of coating thickness measurement and is active in SSPC, ASTM, NACE, PCI and other industry organizations.

Participants may register here free.

Registration, CEU Credits

The programs are part of the JPCL/SSPC Webinar Education Series, which provides continuing education for SSPC recertifications and technology updates on important topics.

SSPC is an accredited training provider for the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE), and Professional Engineers in Florida may submit SSPC Webinar Continuing Education Units to the board. To do so, applicants must download the FBPE CEU form and pass the Webinar Exam, which costs $25.

Webinar: Protecting Steel Edges

“Protecting Steel Edges,” presented June 8, describes specific methods of obtaining sufficient coating thickness on steel edges and other irregular steel surfaces, where coatings tend to pull away during curing. The presenter was Bob Kogler, of Rampart LLC, former head of corrosion protection and coatings research at the Federal Highway Administration.

Webinar: One-Coat Systems in Public Works Projects

“One-Coat Systems in Public Works Projects,” presented Aug. 10, describes the design and data derived from two FHWA research projects on coating performance, focusing on promising one-coat systems and systems with potential for long-term service.
