UK engineering service company Aker Solutions has launched a new “compact” version of its Coabis software tool for oil and gas integrity, inspection and corrosion management.
Coabis Express is based on the company’s Coabis Integrity Management product, which has been used for more than 20 years to manage inspection and integrity in the oil and gas industry. Aker says Coabis is used by 90% of North Sea operators.

Coabis can be used for planning and tracking structural inspection programs for subsea and topsides. Most customers are in subsea, but the company reports increased interest for companies involved in shipping, offshore wind, pipelines and topside activities.
Basic Functions, Multiple Sectors
Coabis Express is a compact version of the software that provides the “basic key functions” at a lower cost. The new version is designed for smaller, independent operators and for developing regions, according to Aker.
Coabis Express is designed to manage inspection operations in the following sectors:
• Pressure systems, piping and vessels;
• Structural;
• Subsea structures and equipment;
• Offshore wind turbines; and
• Ship hulls and tanks.
“Coabis is already in use with operators in North America, Canada, New Zealand, Indonesia and West Africa,” said Jonathan White, vice president of business development. “However, there is huge scope for continued growth as integrity management plays an increasingly important role for operators around the globe.”
Coabis Express includes full asset inventory management, online logging and anomaly tracking. Standard features include digital video interface, hardcopy datasheets and a drag/drop re-ordering system for components.
