Jotun has introduced an anti-corrosive primer designed to protect aged steel and other surfaces without optimal preparations.
The company calls Jotamastic 90 “one of the most technologically advanced surface-tolerant repair and maintenance primers” on the market.

The primer is the latest in Jotun’s Jotamastic line of corrosion-protection products for steel, aluminum and other substrates in harsh environments. Applications include energy, offshore, HPI and general infrastructure; ballast tanks; underwater hulls; top sides; superstructures, and cargo holds.
Reducing Prep
Jotun says the product line requires only hand grinding or waterjetting for preparation, providing the surface is clean and sound. The products can also be used over most generic types of coatings. Within the Jotamastic range, systems can be tailored to specific requirements for exposure and durability.
“The new Jotamastic 90 utilizes modern technology and materials providing excellent wetting properties, ensuring even better surface penetration and adhesion to the substrate and resulting in a durable solution,” said Lasse Isaksen, Jotun’s Product Manager for Anticorrosives.

Features and Characteristics
Jotamastic 90 is designed to provide exceptional corrosion resistance, fast drying and shorter overcoating intervals even in the most severe environments, the company says.
Jotamastic 90 is compatible with most topcoats, including polysiloxanes and two-component acrylics. With Jotun’s Multi Color Industry (MCI) tinting system, multicolor possibilities improve hiding power for strong-colored topcoats, according to the manufacturer.
