Nominations close Oct. 31 for SSPC’s sixth annual Structure Awards, which honor excellence in protective coatings projects.
The Structure Awards recognize project teams of contractors, designers, end users and coating manufacturers. The awards will be presented Jan. 31 at SSPC’s 2012 Conference in Tampa, FL. A representative of the structure owner must accept the award in person.

The winning structures will also be featured in a photo essay in JPCL: Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings after the conference.
Award Categories
All types of structures, including bridges, tanks and industrial and commercial facilities, are eligible for the awards. Except for the Charles G. Munger (longevity) and Military Coatings Project awards, all projects must have been completed between July 1, 2010, and June 30, 2011. (The Munger and Military awards have no date requirement.)
Awards are available in these categories. The Crone Knoy Award recognizes outstanding achievement in commercial or industrial coatings work that demonstrates innovation, durability or utility. The Charles G. Munger (Longevity) Award honors an outstanding industrial or commercial coatings project that demonstrates longevity of the original coating.
The William Johnson Award recognizes aesthetic merit in industrial or commercial coatings work. This includes color, gloss, texture, or how the coating complements its environment while enhancing the structure.
The George Campbell Award honors outstanding achievement in the completion of a difficult or complex industrial or commercial coatings project.
The Military Coatings Project Award of Excellence recognizes exceptional coatings work performed on U.S. military ships, structures or facilities.
