Integrated Green Technologies LLC (IGT) has announced the roll-out of DuraSpeed powder coating for boat propellers, drive shafts and other marine applications, following successful field trials of the product.
The trials were conducted under the control of the Volvo Penta (inboard performance system) warrantee facility in Fort Myers, FL. The coating was applied using the patented IGT #100-B electrostatic thermal spray powder gun system, which allows for the powder coating of parts without the need for a bake oven, the manufacturer reports.
Green Coating
IGT says its foul-release coating contains no environmentally harmful components. The product is designed to hinder the growth of marine life on the parts’ surface while providing a smooth finish that minimizes resistance with the water.

IGT estimates service life at “several years,” following completion of the company’s four-year test. Other tests showed that parts coated with DuraSpeed required no underwater cleaning within six weeks, the manufacturer said.
“We are most excited [to be] introducing DuraSpeed to our line of marine products,” said Joe Moretti, CEO of IGT. “Moreover, the marine industry will welcome the product, as it will solve many long- and short-term issues.”
Fort Lauderdale, FL-based IGT, a division of Organa Gardens International Inc., manufactures industrial tools, machinery and equipment, as well as consumable supplies & materials. IGT is also a distributor of heavy-duty blasting equipment and environmentally safe mobile powder coating systems.
