Louisville Solutions Inc. has introduced the SaltSmart Heavy Duty Field Kit, packaging all the components that contractors need to detect soluble surface salt using the new company’s SaltSmart Technology.
A rugged carrying case contains a complete Model 2000 meter kit, non-residue tape, and 60 SaltSmart disposable sensor test strips.
The case is made of high-density polyethylene, with double-wall construction and a textured exterior made to resist dents, cracking and scuffs. The case hardware, unaffected by extreme temperatures, features field-replaceable mechanical latches and a mechanical hinge system designed for durability.
The case meets U.S. 94B Specifications as an electrical insulator and is impervious to chemical attack, the manufacturer says.
Patented Detection Technology
SaltSmart Technology, developed over five years, is a patented technology for the detection of soluble surface salts in a wide variety of industries.
If not detected and removed before coating application, the presence of small quantities of salt ions on a surface can cause catastrophic premature coatings failure, leading to adverse structural changes.
SaltSmart uses a hand-held meter and disposable sensor, allowing for faster testing of surfaces; elimination of cross-contamination errors; use in limited access areas; absence of testing residue; and the ability to remove background contamination error from the measurement, according to the manufacturer.
“We have listened to our customers and created the packaging that they need for field work,” said company president Warren Neuburger.
Founded April 5, Louisville Solutions provides patented technology used to indicate the presence of corrosion on ships, pipelines, bridges and other high-value, long-life structures.
