SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings has filled three open seats on its Board of Governors election, following its recent elections.
The seats open due to expiring terms were for Contractor, Coating Supplier and Other Provider.
The winners were:
Contractor: Marty Stamey The Brock Group
Stamey has been Senior Vice President, Global Business Development, for the Brock Group since 2008.

With more than 15,000 employees, the 60-year-old Brock Group is one of the largest specialty contractors in the United States. The Brock Group includes nearly a dozen companies, including Brock Services, Ltd., Custom Blast Services Inc., United Goedecke Services Inc. and Industrial Services Unlimited Inc.
Coating Material Supplier: Dr. Brian Skerry Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine
With nearly three decades of experience in corrosion and coatings, Skerry is Global Technical Director for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings Division, where he oversees global new product development, commercialization and technology innovation programs.

“I’m honored to have been chosen to serve on the SSPC Board of Governors,” said Skerry. “I look forward to helping the organization carry out its central role in providing education and information to protective coatings professionals.”
Skerry, the author of 41 technical papers, has been with Sherwin-Williams since 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a doctorate in Corrosion Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK.

L. Skip Vernon is President and Owner of Coating & Lining Technologies Inc. He was voted to a full term on the board after completing a short-term appointment to fill the term of Steve Roetter.

Vernon is a certified SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist, SSPC instructor, and SSPC Master Coatings Inspector. He holds certifications from ASPE (American Society of Professional Estimators), CSI (Construction Specifications Institute), NACE and PDRA (Paint & Decorating Retailers Association).
Vernon’s background includes over 25 years of industrial coating application experience. He currently works as a consultant and advisor to coating manufacturers, contractors, owners, engineering firms, DOTs and attorneys on coatings-related technical issues.
The newly elected board members began serving their four-year terms on July 1.
