Binks has announced the launch of its Century FRP equipment platform, featuring an advanced resin and catalyst pump and a choice of lower-emission spray guns.
Binks’ Century spray guns are Maximum Achievable Control Technologies (MACT) compliant and offer Non-Atomizing Resin Application (NARA) and Low Emissions Laminator (LEL) technologies.
Binks says the spray guns have been shown in testing to emit monomer at or below the levels predicted in equations per Environmental Protection Agency guidelines. The complete emissions test report is available from ITW Finishing Equipment - Americas upon request.
Features and Design
Century LEL spray guns are available in multiple configurations, including external mix gel coat, external mix chopper and a new internal mix wet out. All Century guns feature one-touch flush for easy cleaning and a cartridge needle and seat assembly that changes out in less than five minutes, the manufacturer reports.

The new Century resin and catalyst pump design means fewer repairs and features an AX motor with magnetic detent for stall-free operation, the company says. The motor also runs without lubrication.
Quick-connect couplings and adapter plate mounting of subs make change-out fast and easy, while sub-assemblies and non-adjustable u-cup seals are simple and quick to rebuild. Performance and Benefits
Binks says the Century equipment platform provides composites manufacturers and protective coatings industries with these benefits:
- MACT-compliant spray guns reduce overspray and increase transfer efficiency, improving performance, increasing workspace cleanliness, and saving on materials costs.
- In Binks Century pumps, reduced fluid pressure extends service life, while lower air motor pressure offers less compressed air consumption, enhancing long-term energy savings.
