Elections are now underway to fill three positions on the Board of Governors for SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings.
The association is also seeking papers for its 2012 convention next winter in Tampa, FL.
Elections
Voting for the Board of Governors is open to active SSPC members only. Members may use either the electronic ballot link that was emailed to them on May 6 or submit the PDF ballot available in the Members Only section of www.sspc.org.
Candidate biographies are listed on the ballot. Members may either vote for a listed candidate or write in a candidate of their choice. All ballots must be returned by fax or mail to the SSPC office by June 15.
Members need a username and password to access the ballot. For more information, contact Terri McNeill at SSPC.
Papers Invited
Meanwhile, SSPC is inviting presentations for SSPC 2012 featuring GreenCOAT, scheduled for Jan. 30 to Feb. 2. More than 2,000 industry professionals are expected to attend.

Abstracts are due June 13 and will be evaluated for originality, industry relevance/significance, objectives and quality (clearly defines outcomes, flows smoothly).

• Cleaner abrasives • Coating application methods • Coating failures • Coatings to support emerging green industries (wind power, nuclear coatings) • Coating inspection equipment • Coating types and characteristics • Concrete surfacing • Corrosion control • Environmental health and safety • Estimating • Flooring • Green coatings • Marine and military coatings • Powder coatings • Regulations • Surface preparation • Wind tower coatings • Women in coatings
Papers that give the appearance of a sales presentation will be declined.

The Technical Program at SSPC 2012 will feature discussions and solutions to current challenges faced by coatings professionals, including traditional surface preparation, application, coatings failures, and health and safety.
As at SSPC 2011, environmentally responsible industrial coatings solutions will be a special focus of the program.
