Tank coating manufacturer Tnemec is accepting nominations for its 2011 Tank of the Year competition.
The sixth annual competition will recognize “the aesthetic, creative and innovative uses of Tnemec coatings on water tanks,” said Doug Hansen, director of sales, Water Tank Market.
Award-winning tanks are featured in the company’s annual wall calendar and included in promotional materials throughout the following year.
Nomination Details
New construction and renovation projects on all tank styles are eligible. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 3.
Judging criteria will include artistic value, significance of the tank to the community, and challenges encountered during the project.
Nomination forms may be submitted electronically, emailed to marketing@tnemec.com (put “Tank of the Year” in the Subject line), or obtained from a Tnemec coatings consultant.
2010 Winner
More than 150 projects competed for the award last year.

The winner was a 500,000-gallon composite pedestal tank in Newton, KS, featuring exterior artwork designed to reflect a blue Kansas sky filled with white clouds. The design was inspired by a local sculpture that was named one of the “8 Wonders of Kansas Art.”
Established in 1921, Tnemec manufactures more than 120 industrial and architectural coatings products for new construction and maintenance of steel, concrete and other substrates.
