Nordson Corp. has rolled out the Encore Automatic Powder Spray Gun, designed to provide the highest transfer efficiency available for venturi-based coating systems today.
The gun delivers 100kV, reducing operator costs with more efficient coating and fewer part rejects, according to the manufacturer. ‘Smart Flow’ Control
The Encore automatic gun combines Select Charge technology with Automatic Feedback Current (AFC) control for precise coating coverage and efficiency. The gun is designed to work with Nordson’s iControl integrated control system, providing user-adjustable parameter control to optimize performance over a wide variety of part profiles and configurations, the manufacturer says.

In AFC mode, the controller automatically adjusts electrostatic voltage output to maintain the optimal powder charge and external field strength, regardless of the gun-to-part distance, for uniform powder deposition.
The iControl system incorporates Encore’s “Smart Flow” pneumatic control capability—an intuitive method of setting powder flow for optimum coating efficiency and performance, Nordson says.
Smart Flow first sets optimum velocity of the spray pattern for the part being coated, then sets the powder output level to achieve the desired film thickness. A “Classic Flow” mode is also available for setting flow and atomizing air independently.
Other Features
Nordson calls the Encore “one of the lightest and most compact powder application tools in the industry.” The gun has an air-purge cleanable design and an easy-access powder pathway that allows cleaning for fast color change without disassembly, the supplier says.
The manufacturer also reports:
- Tube and bar mount versions to meet any application requirement;
- Superior Faraday-cage penetration and recoating capability;
- Powder contact parts made from specially engineered materials that minimize wear and impact fusion;
- The industry’s largest selection of nozzle choices; and
- An optional ion collector designed to improve the smoothness and finish appearance of cured powders in select applications.
Nordson Corp., based in Westlake, OH, produces precision dispensing equipment for the application of adhesives, sealants, coatings and other materials during manufacturing. The company also manufactures technology-based systems for curing and surface treatment processes.
