The Bayou Companies LLC has received a contract to provide coatings, welding and support for more than 180 miles of 18-inch steel pipe for use on new hydrogen pipeline in the Gulf Coast.
Under the contract with Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Bayou will provide corrosion coating, concrete weight coating, double joint welding and logistic support on the project.
Bayou is a subsidiary of Insituform Technologies Inc.
Bayou is expected to begin work on the project by the end of the first quarter of 2011 and complete it by the end of the third quarter. The pipeline is expected to be operational in 2012.
“We are pleased to work with Air Products on this significant project,” said Jerry Shea, president of The Bayou Companies. “With high-quality coating capabilities, over 280 acres of storage, access to rail, truck and barge loading or unloading and extensive experience in welding, Bayou is committed to the successful completion of this project.”
Bayou declined to release any other details of the project.

Bayou, established in 1942, provides steel pipe coating and welding services to the onshore and offshore oil and gas industries. The company was in its third generation of family ownership when it was purchased by Insituform Technologies in 2009.
The company owns Bayou Coating LLC, Commercial Coating Services International LLC, Bayou Welding Works, and Bayou Perma-Pipe Canada Ltd.
