Elcometer Inc. has announced a major upgrade of its coating inspection data management software in conjunction with a new “paperless QA” training session developed with SSPC for SSPC 2011.
The company says ElcoMaster 2.0, a paperless QA/QC platform, features an improved user interface and many seamless integration features that work with Elcometer’s core product categories: digital coating thickness gauges, digital surface profile gauges, and digital dewpoint meters.

Information Management
“This amazing paperless platform makes it very easy for paint and coating inspectors to manage the amount of information efficiently, eliminate clutter, reduce errors from manual data entry, and reduce the stress of abiding to various regulatory compliances,” said Elcometer vice president Joseph Walker.
“With its revolutionary user Interface, short learning curve, and overall simplicity, ElcoMaster 2.0 is evolving into the first mainstream paperless QA/QC platform for the coating inspection industry across the board.”
Users can, for example, connect and simultaneously download data from an Elcometer coating thickness gauge, surface profile gauge, and dewpoint meter; upload images, schematics, drawings, forms and illustrations; and create custom reports with built-in statistical functionalities.
New SSPC Training
The product release coincides with the debut of a new training course at SSPC 2011: "Protective Coatings Paperless QA and Digital Data Collection.” The course, developed by Elcometer and administered by SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings, is being offered as post-show training Friday and Saturday (Feb. 4-5) at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. The course focuses on coupling digital instrumentation with paperless inspection reporting.
SSPC executive director Bill Shoup called the new course a first for the industry. “It's important for SSPC and its members to keep pace with the changing landscape of coatings inspection. We're thrilled to partner with Elcometer on this project."
