SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings will hold its First Annual Business Meeting and Awards Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, at SSPC 2011 featuring GreenCOAT.

The SSPC’s first solo show in six years is the only technical conference and trade show developed specifically for the protective and marine coatings industry. The conference is geared toward painting contractors, facility owners, coating manufacturers, equipment suppliers, inspectors and engineers focused on protecting critical assets and infrastructure using protective coatings.
Training, Exhibitors
The event will run from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. The show will feature hundreds of attendees, a comprehensive technical program, more than 120 exhibitors, standards committee meetings, training programs, networking events and the SSPC business meeting and awards luncheon. One special set of sessions will focus on concrete education.
GreenCOAT is featured programming at SSPC 2011 that highlights progress toward environmentally responsible coatings solutions.
Recent additions to the Exhibitors List include Aggreko LLC, Blastrac NA, Ervin Industries, Farrow System, Fast Wrap, Paul Gardner Co., Grace Distributing, Graco Inc., Green Solve LLC, Hi-Temp Coatings Technology, Max Access Inc., Pacific Dust Collectors, The TDJ Group, Trimaco and WIWA LP.
Technical Program Updates
The Technical Program for SSPC 2011 continues to be updated. These changes were announced recently:
• Mike Doolittle, of Tank Industry Consultants, will present “Environmentally Friendly Tank Recoating Projects” on Feb. 1. The presentation will focus on challenges in applying environmentally friendly coatings on twin industrial tanks in Venture, CA. This session replaces “LEED, Coatings & the Contractor.”
• “Bridge Coatings Inspection: Where is Your Data?” will be an additional presentation at Session 1: Bridge on Feb. 2. Derrick Castle, of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and Lynn M. Hagan, of Elcometer Inc., will discuss a project conducted to evaluate the application of digital coatings inspection equipment and electronic reporting during an ongoing bridge coatings project.
• Eric Hernandez, NAVFAC ESC, PW54, has been added as a speaker for “Installation of a Primary Containment System in Existing Underground Concrete Storage Tanks” during Session 1 on Feb. 2.
