Premier Solutions of America Inc. has introduced an eco-friendly, biodegradable line of paint strippers and rust removers for industrial and aviation use.
PSA's paint and/or powder coat remover (EFS 2500) has been engineered to replace paint strippers based on methylene chloride (MeCl), a carcinogen classified as a Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. MeCl is also classified as a Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) in California.
EFS 2500 meets new federal regulations on paint strippers that will take effect Jan. 1 and complies with EPA rules on airborne emissions, the manufacturer says.
EF 4500, the company’s rust and graffiti remover, also contains no methylene chloride and is biodegradable.
Paint Remover: Aviation Applications

The paint remover’s aviation application has been tested by Boeing Technology Services, PSA says. Boeing “conducted and completed a successful D6-17487 ‘Evaluation of Airplane Maintenance Materials’" on EFS 2500 in May 2007, performing evaluation tests for Sandwich Corrosion, Immersion Corrosion, and Hydrogen Embrittlement, PSA says. The complete "Test Passed" document can be viewed here.
Salvage Inventory Services
PSA says it is partnering with U.S. manufacturers of paint and/or powder coatings products to salvage paint line production errors. The company says it “is helping turn painted products that have been damaged during manufacturing into revenue-generating inventory, boosting our clients' profit margins.”
Paint Line Equipment Cleaning
PSA products are suitable for cleaning and maintaining paint line gear, including removing excess overspray paint or powder coat from production line hooks and hangers. The manufacturer offers to show customers how to create a two-step on-site paint removal procedure.
Rust and Graffiti Remover

EFS4500, available as either a dip or a gel, is a non-toxic, pH-neutral, low-odor, VOC-compliant rust and graffiti remover.
The manufacturer says EFS 4500 will effectively remove rust from any surface.
Liquid EFS 4500, for dipping, is designed for repetitive applications appropriate to an immersion tank. The product can be used over and over again, the manufacturer says.
The gel version of EFS 4500 is designed for applications that are too large to use an immersion tank. The gel clings to vertical and inverted surfaces and has a slow evaporation rate, keeping the lifted rust moist and pliable for 24 hours, the company says.
Rust removal time can be accelerated by elevating the surface temperature of the substrate to between 85°F and 95°F. Warming increases the remover’s effectiveness, according to the manufacturer.
Shipping and Availability
PSA products are non-acidic, non-flammable and non-hazardous and thus can be shipped via UPS, Fed Ex, or any other common carrier service, the company says. PSA, based in Florence, AL, is the only licensed U.S. manufacturer and distributor of the product line. The company also sells to distributors and directly to residential end users.
PSA products draw on technology developed by Molecular Tech Coatings (www.m-tc.com) of Canada. The company, established in 1998, specializes in manufacturing industrial coatings and custom built paints.
