Bids Sought for FL Crane Coating Work

Port Everglades Southport Terminals

Broward County, FL, will accept bids Nov. 17 for crane coatings work in the Southport Terminals area at Port Everglades.

The base bid work involves recoating three cranes, with alternates for two additional cranes. Crane surfaces with intact coatings will be high-pressure-water blasted at 7,500-10,000 psi, while visibly corroded steel will be ultra-high-pressure waterjetted or Commercial grade power-tool cleaned (SSPC-SP 15).

The cranes will be recoated with an epoxy spot-primer, an epoxy intermediate, and a urethane finish. The contract includes erecting Class 2W containment structures (SSPC-Guide 6). The contract includes stipulations for quickly tearing down the containment enclosures to allow for as-needed unloading of containers from incoming vessels.
