The American Coatings Association will cover current technology in protective coatings in its conference, "Metal Protection through Coatings Technology," in Pittsburgh on October 19-20.
The 24-paper conference includes a smattering of papers on aerospace, automotive, and OEM factory finish coatings, but for the most part, the program appeals to protective coatings specialists who deal with infrastructure and industrial plant protection.
The papers deal with recently commercialized technical advances, such as FEVE fluoropolymers, as well as novel new technologies not yet widely used. An example is the paper, "Creating Super-Hydrophobic Coatings on Aluminum and Steel for Corrosion Protection."
Most of the papers describe recently developed coating materials, but a few cover performance and other testing technology.
