“Grabbers” that temporarily attach gloves and other items to clothing and a gas-tight chemical protective suit have just hit the protective equipment market.
Squid Glove Grabbers
Ergodyne (www.ergodyne.com) has introduced Squids 3400 and 3405 Glove Grabbers, which are designed to attach to workers’ clothing, belts, tool belts and D-rings. The grabbers allow workers to keep gloves and other items visible and within reach while on the jobsite.
According to the company, the grabbers will break away at about 33 pounds without damaging the product. They are made from acetyl copolymer; are available in hi-vis orange, hi-vis lime, blue and black; and can be personalized with a company logo.
Draeger Chemical Protective Suit
Draeger Safety Inc. (www.draeger.com) has unveiled a new, single-exposure, disposable, Level A gas-tight chemical protective suit for hazardous materials incidents.
The Dräger CPS 5900 is a fully encapsulated suit designed to provide complete protection against hazardous gases, liquids and particles, according to the company, which manufacturers a wide range of products for fire and emergency services, with a focus on personal safety and hazard management.
The CPS 5900 is approved to NFPA 1994 standards; complies with the requirements of the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Convention for use on seagoing vessels; and meets European requirements for protective clothing for industrial applications and fire brigades.
The new chemical protective suit has improved ergonomics and comfort, the manufacturer says. The lightweight garment is made of Zytro 500, the softest laminate material on the market, according to the company. The suit is compatible with various types of personal protective equipment, including the latest closed-circuit breathing apparatus.
Available in five sizes with an integrated waist belt, the CPS 5900 is designed to fit male and female users of all sizes. Other features include a flexible, foldable, scratch-resistant visor with a wide field of vision; a wide side entry with zipper fastener; and integrated gas-tight socks with boot flaps that can be worn with multiple boot sizes.
